Our Adoption: Where are we now?

Thank you to everyone who has supported us so far through our adoption journey.  Many of you have given sacrificially and prayed faithfully.  We are so thankful for that.  As most of you know, we had a birth mother lined up to give us her baby for adoption.  Unfortunately, the mother changed her mind shortly before the baby was born.  There are a lot of reasons why it didn’t work out, but the main reason is that she did not want to give up her baby.  We are thankful for everyone who prayed for us and offered words of encouragement during this time.  We know that God is faithful and has great plans for us.  Naturally, some of you may have questions related to this.

What are you going to do now?  In short, we don’t know.  We still have a tender heart for adoption and children.  We have taken a few weeks to try and step back and relax.  We are hopeful that God has more children in our future.  At this point we are still planning to pursue adoption, and we are open to having more biological children.  We know that whatever we do, we will need to continue to fundraise and pray.

Are you mad at the birth mother?  I can say that we went through a full range of emotions as these events unfolded.  We have prayed for this birth mother and her baby daughter.  We know that ideally, every child would have a happy life with his or her biological parents.  We are praying this little girl has that happy life.  Being mad at anyone does not help our hearts, or our desire to have another child.

How is Jeremiah handling it?  He knows that his baby sister will not be here when we expected.  He still prays faithfully (and rather forcefully sometimes) for God to give him a baby sister and a baby brother.

What can we do for you?  Please pray for us.  Pray for God to give us wisdom.  Pray for God to provide the resources we need to move forward, as He provides direction.  Pray for us to be at peace at all times.

Thank you again to everyone who has shown love to us recently.  We are so thankful to our family, friends, church, and our attorney, who have all helped us immensely.

God is faithful.
